The program called for a 1,500 m² facility with parking for staff and clients, and is situated on a prominent inner city corner site with high visibility. The intention was to provide a full service banking hall to better meet client needs, and to reflect the success story of a downtown Caisse Populaire, with humble beginnings and a long tradition of serving its population.

“… once again, the Caisse Populaire movement has set the stage for the next generation of cultural, economic and urban growth in the newly emerging centre city…”

The building was conceived as a two-story project with a full basement. Consistent with the local context, the building was sited on the corner with the parking behind. The banking hall was positioned at the building’s corner with the full two-story volume enclosed in a curtainwall system for maximum visual impact. The second level administrative services overlook the banking hall. The client wanted a contemporary look that projected an image of stability. The material palette of textured concrete block, imported tile at the entrances, transparent curtain wall, and the metal clad cap, along with the volume’s massing, creates the visual excitement required for this project.
