Rising from the ashes of a devastating 2015 fire, the Bouctouche Farmers’ Market re-emerged in 2018 as a symbol of resilience and renewal. The new pavilion reflects the community’s deep connection to food, craft, and culture, offering a seasonal destination where locals and visitors gather not just to shop, but to reconnect.
Purpose-built for comfort and adaptability, the wood-frame structure is designed to thrive in its coastal setting, shaped by strong southwest winds and changing maritime weather. Hooded roofs and generous canopies offer shelter throughout the summer season, while the open-air layout encourages movement, conversation, and ease. Natural materials and passive design strategies ground the pavilion in place while elevating its functionality.
Inside, over 30 modular stalls create a lively mosaic of local produce, handmade goods, and culinary specialties. Wide circulation paths, overhead service doors, and dedicated delivery zones support seamless operations, while natural light and ventilation infuse the space with warmth and vitality.
The Farmers’ Market weaves seamlessly into the adjacent Cultural Centre, sharing facilities and transforming the west façade into a vibrant backdrop for live performances.
