With the former 1950s structure still active during the initial stages, the new building took shape through a meticulous phased approach, allowing academic life to carry on uninterrupted—a gesture of respect for both routine and place.
The heart of the new school unfolds around a luminous central node, where natural light flows through wide corridors and into shared spaces designed to inspire connection and creativity. A generously daylit gymnasium, welcoming music room, and resource centre are easily accessible from this hub, while select areas remain open to the community after hours, demonstrating the school’s dual role as both an educational facility and civic anchor.
Sustainability shaped every major design move. Expansive operable windows introduce fresh air and harness daylight to create bright, engaging classrooms. Strategically placed skylights bring gentle light into deeper areas of the building, including the gym, minimizing reliance on artificial lighting. Behind the walls, high-performance insulation, energy-efficient systems, and condensing boilers elevate the building’s energy performance to well beyond national standards.
