Positioned at the threshold of Moncton’s downtown core, Hyatt Place bridges the scale of the city’s business district with the intimacy of everyday urban life. Facing the City’s event centre and its adjoining plaza, the hotel plays a pivotal role in energizing the district; its presence is both emblematic and welcoming.
Working within a compact site, the design team reimagined conventional hotel planning to suit the demands of urban density. The building embraces the sidewalk edge, bringing activity to the street while discreetly placing parking at the rear. The result is a civic-minded form that animates its surroundings without overwhelming them.
The ground floor pulses with city life. A street-facing restaurant, lively bar, and compact retail units spill outward in warm months, with patios that invite passersby to linger. The fitness centre and interior gathering spaces are oriented to support both guests and the broader community, reinforcing the hotel’s role as more than just temporary shelter.
Above, 120 well-appointed guestrooms frame views of Moncton’s skyline and river valley. Each floor features two chamfered corner suites—subtle architectural moments shaped by the building’s angled geometry. At night, a soft glow emanates from the building’s sculpted prow, quietly marking its place on the skyline.
With a palette of brick, glass, and metal, the hotel feels both contemporary and contextually grounded. More than an amenity for visitors, Hyatt Place participates in Moncton’s urban evolution, anchoring a growing district with presence, elegance, and civic spirit.
