Profile Type: Institutional
Location: Moncton, New Brunswick

Facing the Moncton campus’ newly created outdoor plaza, entry into the ‘Centre des technologies et des sciences de la santé’ via the grand canopy opens to a spacious gathering space for students to meet, greet or internally circulate to three adjacent buildings using either one of two pedways at grade or an elevated skybridge.

The three storey buff colored brick building responds to the existing architectural context of the campus with a fresh contemporary approach, tempered with the use of modular aluminum composite panels. Its volume houses student social areas on two levels overlooking the exterior plaza through generous glazing. A variety of laboratories are accommodated throughout; structural engineering on the ground floor, nutrition and family sciences at the second floor and, food services research with associated offices are located at the top floor. The building’s design and detailing were developed utilizing recognized, value-added sustainable principles.

The Université de Moncton currently serves 6,200 students and is the Canada’s largest French language university outside of Québec. Moncton, being the original and largest of its three campuses, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013.
